A Little About my Musical Endeavours

I play acoustic guitar, drums, and am learning the violin. The violin is very difficult but rewarding for me. Part of my desire to learn is because a violin is itself the ultimate physics experiment, and also because I have a very good ear. But it also has a special place in my heart, because about the time a lady pronounced our relationship dead, I bought this instrument and something was born.

I don't much play the drums anymore. I am badly out of practice, and my technique and timing has been ruined by an electronic kit I bought while I was living in an apartment. Real drums and gum rubber pads do not behave the same, so in essence, they are two instruments that have a similar sound.

The acoustic guitar is a good instrument to know. You can be a one-man band with an acoustic guitar. No one ever played solo drums by a campfire. I can play some approximation of every song ever written (i.e. fake it) by knowing a handful of chords and being able to barre and capo. This is freedom. (Now the only trouble is that the OLGA archive has been shut down, but the great news is that all those assholes at NMPA got to liquidate the paltry assets of a non-profit. Neat, huh?)
